St Ali Coffee

Scaling production capabilities for growth

The objective

LM Engineering was engaged by St Ali to review their coffee roasting facility. They were tasked with upgrading the finished-goods packaging process to align with the output of the existing roasting equipment to facilitate for their growing wholesale demand both locally and overseas.

There was a need to consolidate their labour-intensive manufacturing processes and to automate process in order to increase productivity. This was essential to keep up with the existing demand and future scale of growth.

The process

The work completed by LM Engineering included:

  1. A comprehensive review of St Ali’s existing manufacturing operations to understand throughputs and bottlenecks, in order determine the most efficient process flow.

  2. The development of a manufacturing solution which involved detailed plant designs, comprehensive equipment layouts and specifications for procurement.

  3. Managing approval processes, and developing manufacturing drawings for plant and equipment, which were issued locally for manufacture.

  4. Site supervision for the installation and commissioning of the completed equipment.

Over a period of 12 months, LM Engineering provided all project management and supervision of trades and prefabrications, consulting with all stakeholders through the process to ensure the business needs were fully understood and met. They also ensured the new process flow was fully compliant with all food safety regulations.

The outcome

The project was successfully delivered and is continuing to support St Ali’s ongoing growth as they expand in the market place, both domestically and internationally.

LM Engineering has since been engaged to complete additional ongoing projects for St Ali, to further increase production efficiencies and to help broaden the product offer.
